We clearly state on our website that we are a small, family-owned shop in Alberta, Canada. Our Shopify has the courier app installed and we do nothing to modify the prices charged, except to add a small handling fee. Any rate customers paid is directly calculated by the courier based on size, weight, and address, with direct interaction with the customer.
To clarify, the recipient always pays the duties/tariffs, which are calculated by the recipient country, in this case the U.S. It is even stated directly on all the couriers websites. In this case, from FedEx 'Effective August 29, 2025, the de minimis exemption for international shipments to the United States has been suspended. As a result, all imports valued at $800 or less are now subject to applicable duties and taxes. Please be advised that this change may lead to potential delays in delivery. Any duties or taxes incurred will be the responsibility of the recipient.'
While we welcome reviews and feedback, and take responsibility for any errors we make, this poor review is not based on our service. The issue is with FedEx's rates and US Tariffs.
